What we do....

SPARK (Student Pathways to Adventure, Resilience and Knowledge) is an after-school and summer program that aims to reduce and prevent substance use among teens (or grades 6 & up) by teaching life-skills, improving social and emotional tools and getting kids excited about life. We offer programming in things like:
Outdoor adventure:
    mountain biking
    rock climbing
    kayaking
etc...

Music

guitar
     drumming
     school of rock
etc...
Visual arts:
    painting
    drawing
    pottery
etc...

Gaming
     role playing
     table games
     video games
etc...
Outdoor recreation:
   fishing
   archery
    fly fishing
etc...

Sports
    basketball

    baaga’adowewin
    kickball

etc...
Performing arts:

theater
     improv
     puppetry
etc...

Practical skills:
    cooking
    camping
    survival skills
etc...

and of course, plenty of dodgeball, kickball and capture the flag.

Really, the only limit is our imagination.
If your child has a genuine interest, we will find some way to help them pursue it.

Where we do it...

United Presbyterian Congregational Church
This year, we will be running the SPARK after-school program out of the  Youth Center of the  United Presbyterian Church  at 214 Vaughn Ave.
SPARK has no religious affiliation.
The church has been kind enough to allow us to rent their very comfortable space which includes a pool table, ping pong table, screen with projector, comfy furniture and a kitchen.
The Bretting Community Center
Our new location at the Presbyterian Church is also right across the street from the Bretting Community Center where we have access to, and regularly use the gym, skatepark, ball fields and rec room.
